Yashtimadhuka (Licorice Root) – Glycyrrhiza glabra

Yashtimadhuka, commonly known as Yashtimadhu, is the root of the Licorice plant, prized in Ayurveda for its naturally sweet taste and soothing properties. Considered a rasayana, it rejuvenates the body and alleviates irritation in the respiratory and digestive systems. Traditionally, it is used to relieve coughs, sore throats, hoarseness, and stomach inflammations such as gastritis and ulcers.

Its cooling nature helps balance excess Pitta while supporting Vata, nourishing the body and strengthening immunity. Yashtimadhu is often included in formulations aimed at restoring strength and vitality.

Caution: Excessive or prolonged use may raise blood pressure or cause water retention. Use under guidance, especially for those with hypertension or kidney concerns.
