Sallaki (Boswellia serrata / Indian Frankincense)
Sallaki, also known as Indian Frankincense, comes from the gum resin of the Boswellia serrata tree, which grows in the dry regions of central and western India such as Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. In Ayurveda, it has been used for centuries to relieve joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. Today, Sallaki is one of the most popular natural remedies for maintaining joint health and mobility.
The resin contains natural plant compounds called boswellic acids, which help reduce inflammation in the body. Sallaki is especially valued for providing relief in conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and back pain. It also supports respiratory health by easing asthma and bronchitis symptoms, and is sometimes used in bowel conditions like colitis. Many Ayurvedic joint health supplements list Sallaki as a key ingredient.
Sallaki is generally safe when taken in the right amounts, usually as capsules, tablets, or resin extract. Mild side effects like stomach upset, nausea, or diarrhea may occasionally occur. People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other strong medications should consult a doctor before using Sallaki regularly. Long-term use should be guided by an Ayurvedic physician to ensure safe and effective results.
